Overview
What is the MURS frequency band?
The MURS frequency band consist of five VHF shared frequencies designated for private, two-way, short-distance voice or data communications for personal or business activities within the United States for which no individual station licenses are required. There is no frequency coordination or license requirement for the use of radio transceivers on MURS frequencies. These channels are available for use on a "shared" basis by the general public.
MURS radios offer:
- Simplicity and cost savings from not requiring frequency coordination and licensing.
- The ability for businesses to deploy a "common" radio configuration across multiple locations which may have otherwise been assigned different private frequencies due to regional frequency constraints/availability. This can greatly simplify procurement and deployment of radio assets.
Exceptional Audio Quality
The RDM Series™ audio is 30% louder than previous Motorola XTN and AX models thanks to 2000 mW audio output, speaker magnetic field reduction, wind-noise reduction and improved RF specifications.
Rugged and Water Resistant
Durable metal diecast chassis helps radios hold up under demanding conditions. The RDM Series meets Military 810 C, D, E, F and IP54/55 specifications for shock, rain, humidity, salt fog, vibration, sand, dust, temperature shock, and high and low temperatures. RDM Series radios are tested to IP54/55 standards—highly demanding tests for water and dust resistance. The IP54/55 tests include subjecting the radio to a high-speed, high-volume shower from all directions for three minutes.
Customer Programming Software (CPS)
Allows users to perform various programming functions. Plus, the CPS software (link) provides access to new features such as Reverse Burst to eliminate unwanted noise and Radio Reporting to manage cloning and radio profiles. Requires RKN4155 interface cable.
Flexible and Durable Battery Life Solutions
The standard Li-Ion battery (up to 12 hrs of life per charge). An alkaline battery kit is available as an optional accessory (up to 26 hrs).
Channel Aliasing
Simple programming enables each channel to have a user-defined name. (RDM2080d)
Front Panel Programmability
Five programmable buttons enable quick access to radio features. (RDM2080d)
